My friend "infected" me with Venice about five years ago. She is a professional photographer. I remember the first time she flew from Venice, she brought a bunch of amazing photos with views of this amazing city, a bunch of impressions and stories. And when I had the opportunity to fly to Italy, I firmly decided for myself that I definitely had to see Venice. I understood that it was impossible to get to know and understand the city in one go, but I had a great desire to at least catch its mood, to feel it. Having a good academic school, I prepared: I looked through photos, read what was written on the Internet, studied guidebooks, ordered an excursion. The latter became the main factor of success?! Having found myself in Venice, despite my "home preparation", I was caught off guard by the mysticism and magnificence of this city. What a right decision it was to go as part of an excursion group. Otherwise, I would have definitely "lost" in the variety of colors, water, antiquity. The 1.5 hours of free time allotted at the beginning of the excursion are proof of this. Having wandered around the city on my own, I realized that I couldn't cope alone. ? Everything fell into place when the excursion began.
You are amazed by the high professionalism of the guide (and our group was led by Alena Doroshchuk), who in the allotted 2 hours of excursion time was able not only to tell the history of the city, show its main attractions, but also introduce us to its legends and secrets, tell us about the modern life of the townspeople. This was the story of a person who knows and loves the city, its history and traditions. Confidently led by the guide along the narrow streets and picturesque bridges crossing the canals, I was very interested in listening to this amazing city, admiring it. Despite my "home preparation", during the excursion I learned a lot of new things! After all, all these guide books are too dry. And why don't they print interesting stories and facts?! Special thanks to Elena Grebennikova, who accompanied our group on the way. While we were traveling in a comfortable bus from Abano and sailing on a boat, Elena gave us all the necessary information in broad strokes, not only about the "tourist Mecca" itself, but also about the organization of our stay there. Once again, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped me see and, as Elena said, "try" Venice. The organization, content and conduct of the excursion deserve the highest praise. Last year my husband and I went to Venice a third time. On this occasion we decided to avail ourselves of a guide. To tell the truth, we prefer to explore cities on our own: it is very rarely that a guide doesn't shower you with tons of irrelevant info. OK, maybe it is good to know all the dates and names of rulers and wars they waged. But when a guide starts his/her spiel, they lose me. This time was absolutely different: our guide was Alona Doroschuk. As soon as we unpacked, we went on a 4-hour walk over the city. It was an unhurried stroll accompanied by an informative and captivating story about Venice and Venetians. We plunged into Venice labyrinth of calli. We saw off-beat places as well as world famous ones. We saw Venice through the eyes of a person whose love to Venice shone through her story. As it is impossible to cover all the sights in 4 hours, Alona supplied us with lots of useful info as to what to see in the remaining time, gave the names of churches to see (BTW, don't forget to buy Chorus passes: another bit of advice Alona gave us), cafes to have meals in and places to go shopping to. Make sure to engage Alona's services, you'll get your money's worth and will enjoy every minute of your guided tour.

Here we are back to the grey sky and Moscow routine, drinking tea and asking ourselves, "Did we dream of Venice? I do not want to offend Rome and Florence, but Venice exceeded all our expectations! And this is only thanks to you, Alena! You gave us surprises every day - in the morning we did not know where we were going - and 15 minutes later we found ourselves in an inconspicuous church and the paintings of Titian and Tintoretto left us speechless. Without you, tourists would not be able to see this. Or, suddenly, we go into an inconspicuous courtyard, and there is a staircase for horses on 3 floors. You very professionally put together a program for us - we now have a complete impression of Venice. We travel a lot and never return anywhere a second time, we will definitely return to Venice, it is truly an open-air museum! But it is better to see once than to hear a hundred times! About food - this is a separate song. We are not gourmets, but where you took us, we would never have reached and found these restaurants. If in museums we exclaimed "OHALI" and "AHALI", then in restaurants we quietly moaned, from the deliciousness I was afraid to swallow my tongue - seafood is not prepared like this anywhere - to the owner of the restaurant Antonio - fiery greetings! Unfortunately, the guide who conducted the tour could not say anything about the portrait and its artist. For these 2 years, no one could say who was in the portrait and its author.
